At Salop Design & Engineering, our Welding Department is a core part of our fabrication capability, offering manual MIG and TIG welding supported by semi-automatic Bauromat welding systems. With a team of highly skilled, coded welders and a reputation for technical precision, we deliver high-quality welded fabrications across a wide range of applications—from low-volume, niche components to high-volume production assemblies.
Why Choose SDE for Industrial Welding?
We offer flexible, scalable welding solutions tailored to meet the most demanding industry standards. From precision structures to heavy-duty fabrications, we work with customers across automotive, defence, rail, aerospace, energy, and industrial sectors. Our expertise covers not just common steels, but also exotic materials like Inconel, Duplex stainless steel, titanium, Armour Plate and high-strength low alloy (HSLA) steels.
Technical Benefits:
Certified CodedWelders
Our team holds welding certifications to BS EN ISO 9606-1, with procedures covering a broad range of positions and material groups. We deliver consistent weld integrity and compliance across mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium, and more advanced alloys.
Bauromat Semi-Automatic Welding
Our semi-automatic Bauromat cells support repeatable welding of multi-stage assemblies, with programmable control over weld sequences, rotational jigs, and fixture clamping. These systems are ideal for batch-run components where speed, accuracy, and cycle-time reduction are essential.
Exotic MateriaCapability
In addition to mild and stainless steels, we weld components made from Inconel, Duplex, titanium, aluminium alloys, and other corrosion-resistant or high-performance metals. Our experience includes working on heat- and pressure-resistant components for demanding applications.
Precision Fixtures & Repeatability
Custom jigs and fixtures are designed and built in-house, supporting precise joint fit-up and minimising distortion. This ensures consistent repeatability across large batch runs and complex geometries.
Manual MIG &TIG Welding
We deploy TIG for ultra-clean, precision welds on stainless, aluminium, and thin-gauge materials; MIG is used for its high deposition rate and penetration on structural assemblies. Applications include brackets, supports, fluid reservoirs, and pressure-rated structures.
Large-Scale Fabrication Capacity
We regularly produce welded assemblies up to 10 metres in length, enabling us to serve structural, chassis, and enclosure requirements that demand alignment, distortion control, and rigidity across large spans.
Quality Control & Traceability
All welds are inspected to BS EN ISO 5817 standards, with supplementary macro/micro inspection, NDT, and material traceability when required. WPS and PQR documentation is maintained in accordance with customer and industry compliance frameworks.
Application Example:
Our welding operations are used to manufacture subframes, fabricated fuel tanks, battery enclosures, precision brackets, and load-bearing chassis components. Customers trust us for jobs ranging from low-volume prototypes and specialist technical parts to high-volume welded subassemblies for serial production.
